How custom rugs work
The process is refreshingly simple, and it starts in our Carson City showroom. You pick a carpet — from a roll, a sample line, or even a leftover remnant from a recent install — and we measure the size you need. From there our team cuts the carpet square (or to a runner, oval, or other shape) and finishes every raw edge so it won't fray or unravel underfoot. The result is a finished rug, not a piece of cut carpet.

- Give us the size. Bring your room dimensions (or have us measure during a free in-home visit) so the rug lands exactly where you want it.
- Pick your edge. Select cloth binding or a yarn-wrapped serged edge, plus a color that blends in or stands out.
- We fabricate & finish. We cut, bind and inspect the rug, then it's ready to pick up or have delivered.
Edges, binding & materials
The edge is what turns carpet into a rug, and you have choices. Cloth (fabric-tape) binding wraps the perimeter in a fabric band for a crisp, tailored border — pick a tape color that matches the carpet for an invisible finish or a contrasting one to frame the piece. Serging wraps the edge in tightly stitched yarn for a softer, hand-finished look that reads more like a traditional area rug. We'll walk you through binding widths and colors against your actual carpet so the finished edge looks intentional, not improvised.
Because the rug is made from real carpet, you also get to choose the fiber and feel — soft nylon or polyester for living spaces and bedrooms, denser low-pile constructions for high-traffic entries and hallways, or wool-blend lines when you want a natural, premium hand. Our high-desert climate is gentle on rugs indoors, but for entryways that catch grit and snowmelt in a Northern Nevada winter, we'll steer you toward a tighter, more cleanable construction.
